However, since yesterday, I have been mostly back on my feet. I have written more than my 500 necessary words yesterday, cleaned up the kitchen a little, started reading a new book, and generally getting things done. I still haven't been back to the gym since I got sick, but I'm trying not to physically push myself at all until I know I'm all healed up.
There is something that is absolutely terrifying about being tied down to the couch when you are feeling dizzy, slow down, and let your body heal when there is so much to be done. It's a good thing I have Yoga with Adriene on YouTube to keep me going when I'm down.
Accept that everyone gets sick once in a while even when you are doing things to be healthy. I've been eating better, making healthier choices, exercising and other things. But I have to remind myself that these things don't guarantee I won't end up with the flu or something for a week or two. It was my week long journey of learning a temporary version of the Spoon Theory up close and personal.
My goals haven't changed. I still need to get rid of 30% of my stuff before moving. I still need to keep the house clean and cook healthy meals for myself and my roommates. I still need to write, to read, and to learn every day. But I also need to learn to let it go on occasion and accept that it is okay for illness to hold you back, just so long as you have the motivation to start it up again after the cold is gone.
